Literacy Tip of the Week

Celebrating the Holiday Through Literacy
Ø Put reading and writing skills to practical use. Plan holiday meals by reading cookbooks together, writing the shopping lists and finding the needed items at the store by reading signs and labels. Read the recipe and cook together.
Ø Work on those letters. Improve writing skills with letters to Santa and writing thank you notes for holiday gifts to relatives and friends.

Literacy Tip of the Week

What’s “Just Right”?
Just Right Books

Children feel confident and competent when they read books that are “just right.” But how do you find a “just right” book? Have your child read the back and front cover, and first page of the book. If there are more than five words that he cannot pronounce or understand in context, the book may be too challenging. Be supportive about finding a more perfect fit. Choosing the right book will help your little reader feel successful.

American Education Week

The week of Nov. 13-17 is the National Education Association's 96th annual American Education Week!  This week presents an opportunity to celebrate public education and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring every child receives a quality education.  As we do each year during American Education Week, students are invited to get involved as well.  On Wednesday, November 15, students are invited to 'dress like a teacher' for the day.
